JP CE Polls Pro for YOOtheme Pro

JP CE Polls Pro adds an interactive poll element directly to YOOtheme Pro Builder. It works with both Joomla + YOOtheme Pro and WordPress + YOOtheme Pro.

You create a question and multiple answers in the Builder. Visitors select one answer and vote without reloading the page, then see the results immediately.

Installation

Joomla

  1. Go to System → Install → Extensions.
  2. Upload the Joomla plugin ZIP.
  3. Go to System → Manage → Plugins.
  4. Enable System - JP CE Polls Pro.
  5. Open YOOtheme Pro Builder.

The vote table is created automatically during installation.

WordPress

  1. Go to Plugins → Add New Plugin → Upload Plugin.
  2. Upload the WordPress plugin ZIP.
  3. Activate JP CE Polls Pro.
  4. Open YOOtheme Pro Builder.

The vote table is created automatically when the plugin is activated.


Creating a Poll

  1. Open YOOtheme Pro Builder.
  2. Add the JP CE Polls Pro element.
  3. Enter a question.
  4. Set a unique Poll ID.
  5. Add the required answers.
  6. Customize styling if required.
  7. Save the layout.
  8. Test the poll on the frontend.

Poll Settings

Question

The main poll question displayed above the answers.

Question HTML Tag

Select the heading used for the question. Available tags:

  • h1, h2, h3, h4, h5, h6, div, p

Poll ID

Every poll should have a unique Poll ID, for example website_priority.

Changing the Poll ID creates a different poll result set, so avoid changing it after votes have been collected.

Answers

You can add, remove and reorder answers. The poll supports one selected answer per visitor.


Button Settings

Customize the Vote button using:

  • Button Label
  • Button Style
  • Button Size
  • Button Width
  • Button Alignment

The plugin uses UIkit/YOOtheme button styling.


Panel Settings

You can style the panel around the poll with:

  • Panel Style
  • Panel Padding

Panel styles include None, Default, Muted, Primary and Secondary. This lets the entire poll match your current YOOtheme design.


Chart Settings

Results are shown with Apache ECharts. Main options include:

  • Show Chart
  • Chart Background
  • Chart Padding
  • Chart Text Color
  • Chart Bar Color
  • Chart Hover
  • Show Percentage
  • Show Vote Count

Set Chart Text Color to Auto in most cases. Custom colors can be used when the chart needs more contrast against the selected panel.


Spacing

Spacing controls let you adjust:

  • Question to Answers
  • Answers to Button
  • Question to Results
  • Chart to Participants

UIkit spacing is used to keep the element consistent with YOOtheme Pro.


Voting and Results

  1. Visitor selects an answer.
  2. Visitor clicks Vote.
  3. The vote is submitted without a page reload.
  4. Results appear immediately.
  5. The visitor sees percentages, vote counts and the participant total.

Returning visitors who already voted normally see the result state instead of submitting another vote.


Duplicate Vote Protection

Logged-in visitors are identified by their user account, and guest visitors use a persistent anonymous browser identifier. Duplicate checks happen server-side.

Guest protection is designed to prevent normal repeat voting, but it should not be treated as a secure identity-verification system.


Multiple Polls

Several JP CE Polls Pro elements can be used on the same page. Every separate poll must have its own Poll ID, for example:

  • website_priority
  • favorite_cms
  • design_preference

Recommended Settings

  • Question HTML Tag: H3
  • Button Style: Primary
  • Panel Style: Default or None
  • Chart Background: Transparent
  • Chart Text Color: Auto
  • Chart Bar Color: Auto
  • Chart Hover: Enable
  • Show Percentage: Yes
  • Show Vote Count: Yes

A Default or Muted chart background may improve contrast when using Primary or Secondary panels.


Troubleshooting

Vote button does nothing

  • Clear website and browser cache.
  • Check the browser console for JavaScript errors.
  • Temporarily disable JavaScript optimization/minification.
  • Confirm the latest plugin version is installed.

Chart does not appear

  • Confirm Show Chart is enabled.
  • Clear YOOtheme and browser cache.
  • Check whether ECharts loads correctly.
  • Check the browser console.

Chart text is difficult to read

  • Set Chart Text Color to Auto.
  • Select a contrasting Chart Background.
  • Change the chart bar color if it is too similar to the panel.

Visitor can vote again

  • Check that cookies are enabled.
  • Confirm that the Poll ID has not changed.
  • Confirm that the plugin vote database table exists.
  • Check whether aggressive page caching is serving stale content.

Results changed or disappeared

  • Confirm that the Poll ID has not been changed.
  • Each Poll ID represents its own stored results.

Best Practices

  • Use a unique Poll ID for every poll.
  • Avoid changing the Poll ID after collecting votes.
  • Keep questions short and clear.
  • Keep answer labels concise.
  • Use 2–6 answers for most polls.
  • Use Chart Text Color Auto unless custom colors are needed.
  • Test logged-in and guest voting.
  • Test mobile, tablet and desktop layouts.
  • Test the plugin after enabling caching or JavaScript optimization.
  • Test updates on a staging site before production.
