Images and select together?

Hi 
I'm wondering this is possible on product page show Attributes SELECT (normal) and extra IMAGE like Gallery popup? 
I would like to achieve the effect that we have a SELECT field but next to it we have an icon for previewing images that opens in a popup as a gallery.
I add screenshot for better understood.

If it were possible to add thumbnail galleries with attributes, it would be even better, because it would be simpler.

By the way, one question: can the Attribute Distribution be somehow arranged as a GRID? 
Something that will allow you to hide some choices or expand them when there are a lot of choices.
